I'm curious, for those of you who have taken the SAT and ACT, which test's math is harder? Is the ACT's math just a straightforward knowledge test or does it require some heavy-duty reasoning?

I felt like the SAT Math was easier because it requires more thinking vs. just straight up knowledge, the equations are all given if needed, and TI-89's are allowed on the test, thus no mindless algebra is necessary.

ACT: 26
SAT: 710

I think the SAT Math looks better! :)

I second that. The act just sucks in general.

You will get views both ways. The bigger distinction between the two is that you get less time on the ACT to answer each question (you must do 60 in 60 minutes; on the SAT it is 54 in 70 minutes although that is broken into two 25 and one 20 minute section)

the ACT has trigonometry questions while the SAT does not

The ACT is around 500x easier in my opinion, at least in math. No retarded trick questions to worry about.

yeah, i agree, no trick questions on the ACT, which are always what kill me on the SAT

the ACT is a lot harder. the math is more advanced, but it's the time that's a complete killer.

31 in ACt

68 in PSAT you do the math..

look at it this way...on the ACT there are a lot more advanced problems you have to deal with (basically through Pre-cal because they include identities) and you also barely have enough time to complete it (i got a 31 and missed the last 7 questions) ... on the Practice SAT that was administered at my school it seemed like the SAT math gave you WAAAAAAAAAY more time and even tough it had a few tricks maybe a little easier but less advanced math..
