So I am considering Albany and I plan to visit next week. But I'm wondering if the area and campus life is as bad as I have heard?

Campus life is awesome, there are events every day of the week. 200+ clubs/groups on campus the are always doing going on. It’s really easy to get involved in things.

Downtown is even better, so many things to do and places to go. The community gets really involved with the local colleges to. Lots of coffee shops and places to eat. And theres an awesome bowling place. The local mall crossgates has a huge movie theater and just added laser tag and a glow in the dark mini golf place.

The people that say there really isn’t anything to do are probably the ones that don’t go out or get involved in anything. Have a great visit, i’m sure you will like UA!

Ok, thanks for the reassurance. Do you go there?

Yeah i’m just finishing up my first year

How’s the student body? Going from what I heard ( which probably isnt much ) there are a lot of parties and non workers? Not that I am a non social worker but are the people, speaking for the majority, serious about studies?

Thanks again

A lot of people are very serious about studying and work hard and a lot of people party to hard, get bad grades, and suffer the consequences. You’re going to find that at any college. I have seen a lot more people get more serious second semester after partying to much first semester and ending up with terrible grades as a result.

For the majority, I would say that most students are very serious and that they are here to study. I mean after all, it’s college thats why you’re here.

I actually went on a tour today, the campus seemed pretty great- the dorms were pretty good, the buildings and classrooms looked good ( better than Stony Brook I think) and I like how there is so much renovation going on within the campus and downtown. Downtown seemed nice although some parts got kind of ghetto lol. Is there a lot to do downtown or is kind of just for show or future job opportunities? Also, how far away is St Peter’s hospital? But I love how the mall, stores and state park are so close to the campus. I am glad I looked at Albany and got past the stigma my high school class always gives Albany. Oh one last question, the education and opportunities, are they really strong as they say? I mean it seems it but every college says that. I’m interested in the public health btw.

Thank you again!

Dude theres so much to do downtown, and the local mall and walmart are only a short free bus ride away. Just likes theres events going on every day on campus, theres events everyday downtown you just have to know where to look.

Theres always construction on campus which like you said is good. They just built new apartments this last year on campus and I’m sure you saw the new business building being built thats going to be ready by next year. And the new fountain is going to look sick when it’s done.

St. Peters hospital is about 10 minutes away.

Not to sure about public health specifically but yes the education you will get here is amazing. The professors i’ve had go above and beyond and absolutely love what they teach. And I can honestly say I would have never gotten involved in half of the things I’ve gotten into here at another school. It’s so easy to get involved and once you get your foot in the door you just keep getting involved in more and more stuff.

Good luck dude hope you go here, if you have any other questions just message me anytime.

Thanks man appreciate it
