Is the CSS Profile absolutely needed for these three colleges.

Hi, so after trying to finalize my college list, I came across three of my colleges that talked about needing a CSS Profile in order to apply. I’m a bit confused because some of them were saying only certain applicants need it, but I couldn’t find out which ones needed it. Can any of you give me clarification if the following colleges ABSOLUTELY need the CSS Profile: University of Rochester, Syracuse University, and Vassar College

Are you applying for need based financial aid? If so, these schools require the CSS Profile in addition to the FAFSA.

The CSS Profile is used to determine eligibility for need-based University of Rochester grant funding. The University of Rochester school code is 2928, and our priority deadline is February 15 for regular decision applicants (December 1 for early decision applicants).

Students whose parents are separated/divorced, both parents will each complete their own CSS Profile application

2019-2020 CSS/Financial Aid Profile - to apply for Syracuse University Grant

ETA…go to the financial aid section of each of your colleges. You will find all the required submissions for aid consideration as well as the deadlines.

If you aren’t applying for need based aid, and will be paying the full cost of attendance at these colleges, you don’t need to apply for aid to be considered for admission. Only students applying for financial aid need to submit the financial aid application forms.
