I have applied to Stanford regular decision and I have been called for interview. Are these interviews really just based on location? My friend who lives about 10 min drive away from me didn’t get one and he applied on Jan 1st same as me. He does have a lower SAT and GPA than me.
Also what can I expect if I go to an interview? Also, for those of you who already interviewed, how long can I expect the interview to be?
I know they will ask the typical why do you want to go to Stanford question+ ask about your interests, anything else?
Interviews are between 30 min and an hour, depending on what the interviewer prefers. Your nearby friend may still get an invitation to interview, it has nothing to do with grades or SAT, it is based on zip code and interview availability. Every interviewer has their own style and questions but it is generally an easy conversation to find out more about you and for you to find out more about Stanford. Since Stanford is the Dream School, they already know why you want to go there. Of greater interest is what you bring to the Stanford family.
