Compare housing variables. I think that NEU guarantees dorms through at least 3rd year, and campus is pretty safe. Check on BC housing availability… not sure if it would be better or worse, but could be a factor if your dad would worry about you living off campus.

NEU campus security can be found in surrounding areas and side streets as well

@patsgirl: As I posted earlier, crime can occur on any campus. This is a Boston Globe article and video re: an incident at Boston College last September:
[Four arrested in stabbing at Boston College](http://www.boston.com/news/local/breaking_news/2010/09/four_arrested_i.html)

Such incidents could occur at Northeastern, BU or Harvard. Students at suburban campuses sometimes let down their guard and have a false sense of security.

I’ve never felt unsafe on the Orange line, even going outbound. I do dislike it sometimes though, but that’s because it keeps stopping and taking ages- but all the T lines are doing that nowadays. The red line past Andrew skeevs me out though…

And I’m a little curious what part of Mass the uncle cop is from. I’ve got family friends who are cops in NY, and I always noticed that the ones who worked in NYC thought the city was a lot safer than the ones who worked outside the city…
