I heard Ivy schools like students from families without degree. If parents have college degree, it would lower the chance for their kids to enter the Ivy. I want to know how much the chance is lowered?

While first generation college students seem to be a hot commodity these days, there is no way of really quantifying the effect of being 1st Gen. on an application (at least I don’t think). I doubt that having parents who are college graduates will be detrimental to your application. Being 1st generation can help your application, but not being 1st generation won’t hurt it either. Your other statistics will hold much more weight in the application process. Best of luck!

That’s a pretty illogical thing to say, if being a first generation helps, then not being a first generation on some level must hurt unless you’re applying to a school that doesn’t care.

Ivies want some first generation students today because they’ve historically had few. Most ivy students have college educated parents.
