Is the point of an undergraduate business degree negated by an MBA?

Is there anything in a UG business education at Wharton, for example, that you couldn't learn on the job and then during Business School?

At a lot of schools I’ve looked at, only about 50% or less of the admitted MBA class had an UG degree in business. I was considering an MBA for a bit and I have a BA in psychology. An MBA can be used to either advance yourself in your current career, or to make a career change.

I think having a liberal education during UG will help build a broader set of skills, and then work experience adds life experience utilizing those skills, while the MBA provides networking opportunities for you to move up in your field (or a new field). So I don’t really think it’s either necessary or always desirable to have an UG degree in business, then to go on to graduate business programs. I know a lot of UG business grads who are not using their degree at all, mainly because they couldn’t find jobs. It’s better to use your degree in a field where you can find work, work your way up, then go back to a graduate program to advance.
