Is the "School Report" the same thing as a counselor reccomendation?

When I visited University of Richmond, they said to have a counselor recommendation, even if you and the counselor have no relationship at all. Well, now that I am almost done with all of my applications, I am still not sure of one thing, is the School Report listed in the reccomendation page the same as a counselor reccomendation? Or is that a transcript form?

My son’s “school report” was sort of a form letter type deal that explained his HS’s grading policies, (ie, they don’t rank., don’t weight GPA etc) what AP classes they offer and stuff like that.

So, if I just send in the school report from the common app, I won’t have to ask for a separate letter of recommendation from my counselor?

“they said to have a counselor recommendation, even if you and the counselor have no relationship at all.”

To me, that sounds like they want a personal letter from the counselor about you. I would think the school report (as keepingitlight described) is more about the school’s policies.

I would ask the counselor to submit a letter of recommendation, as the school requested.

Check with your school. In some schools, the school report/profile and the counselor’s letter go out with the transcript.

Problem figured out.

My school’s school report contains the transcript, counselor recommendation and schedule. I would imagine this applies to all schools since my counselor just filled out whatever the common app asked for.
