Is the school spirit really that bad???

dude, we have a bunch of indian guys on our football team

wow...okay...aparrently we DO have a football team.

go tritons? haha

How would we start up a football team at UCSD? Do we need the Associated Students' vote or what?

We also have a hockey team.

Shocking.

There was a vote a number of years ago, and the student body voted against starting a football team.

who the hell would say no to starting a football team?! i don't get it...

I would say no... What's the point of giving things like scholarship money and priority registration to athletes? If I want to watch football, I'll watch the NFL.

plus we would need a stadium...and a stadium would cost a lot...so...yea...go triton hockey team!?

According to this article (<a href="http://www.ucsdguardian.org/cgi-bin/sports?art=2006_02_16_03)%5B/url%5D">http://www.ucsdguardian.org/cgi-bin/sports?art=2006_02_16_03)</a>, if each student just pays $19 more per quarter, then all of this could come true. Think about it, with an extra $19/quarter (or $57/year) we could have a new football team, stadium, THREE more women's teams, and the school spirit we've been longing for.

WHY THE HECK DOES ANYBODY CARE ABOUT SCHOoL SPIRIT??????

hahh i bought the shirt the article is talking about..

I'd rather have $228 than a football team.

I don't understand why people care about school spirit. I don't.

for me its just really about the football...i'd be willing to do a lot for us to finally have a football team, but i do care about school spirit too. hmmm...seems weird to me when people say they don't care about school spirit, but w/e

Yeah... I'm not so much caring about the school spirit. It's just a good excuse for me not to attend the football games that I would be so bored at. I have school spirit anyway, I'm super happy to be going to UCSD.

Honestly I am glad there isn't football teams, and mass school spirit. There is still going to be tons of stuff to do. My friends dad was a professor there and laughed when I told him the worries of no parties/nothing to do.
I would much rather have to go looking for a party when I want to go to one, then have them everywhere I look, like at SDSU and UCSB.

I would like a football team. Itd be fun seeing your team on TV or something. For example, my brother goes to UCLA, and it was exciting for him to see Drew Olson play on ESPN, knowing he was in his psyc class.

Sure, a football team would be nice if it was free. But it's not worth it if it costs each student $250.

i'd gladly pay that to have a football team. i'm surprised at how many people don't want a football team or don't really care about it. and i especially don't get how you could be "glad" that there isn't a football team. i could somewhat understand how you don't want a football team, but that you're actually "GLAD" that we don't have one? i don't get it...

Why would we care about football if we don't play or watch it?

well like i said...i could understand if you don't care or don't want a football team, but i don't see why you would actually be GLAD about not having one(like rdw said). i guess now i can see why our school doesn't have a team though haha wow
