Was wondering if anyone knows or can explain the process for current freshman who want to stay on campus for sophomore year? Is it competitive? Is there a lottery?
Seems like it was just the other day that the Fall semester was beginning, but my freshman daughter said a bunch of girls are talking about living arrangements for next year and the need to put down deposits at some places. Can’t we just have Halloween first?!? My daughter also wants to consider staying on campus next year, but I don’t know how it works. There are some late November dates for staying in the same room or picking another. Anyone have any insight?
She has interest in living in the Keys Complex.
It looks like my daughter received information about staying on campus at the beginning of November last year. We know people who signed leases to live off campus for the following year in November of the current year. So, if your daughter wants to remain on campus she will receive information on that in a few weeks, probably. If she wants to live off campus, she would need to decide that quickly, I think.
I don’t know how competitive it is to remain on campus? I know many people choose to live off campus. My daughter and her roommate wanted to stay on campus for sophomore year, and they have. I think they wanted to change dorms, but may not have been able to get the one that they wanted. So, they stayed where they were/are (which is Hume). They have recently decided to stay on campus again for next year, but not sure where they’ll end up.
Oh yes, next year’s housing is upon us. My son stayed in the dorms a second year, and didn’t have much of a problem doing so (he did put down a deposit pretty early).
This year he is staying at our house, but actually misses living on campus!
It is sort of murky how/when room picks happen, etc., for returning Gators. I’d watch the housing site pretty closely and have your kiddo watch their emails.
