Hey guys, I’ve been reading this website for the past few months to see what was up with the college transfer waitlist. I was on it for a long time and finally got rejected a few days before July 16th. My planned major was Environmental Engineering, my college GPA is currently 3.51, and I finished all the English, Speech, Math, Physics, Chemistry, Statics, and most of my GE. I worked 15 hours a week as well and did 1-5 hours of being in a club. Unfortunately, I was cocky last Fall and only applied to this school, and well look what happened, I have to stay in Community College for another year! I plan on applying to Cal Poly SLO again as my first choice, but now I have some questions:

IF I get accepted, will it take me longer to graduate since many of the engineering major classes are only at the university? Will I be at a disadvantage?

Is it reccomended to fully complete my GE requirements?

What else do they look for? Should I also try to complete the other support courses that are not required for transfer but if accepted will count as subject credit?

By the end of Spring 2011 I will definitely have about 90 units under my belt. My main choice is Cal Poly SLO but this time I will also have a plethora of backup schools (I will consider dropping school if I dont get accepted to anywhere next year) . I am asking you guys these questions because Santa Monica College’s counselors are absolutely clueless about the engineering transfer process, and the Cal Poly representative I’ve been emailing isn’t directly answering my questions.
