Is the weather that bad?

just to put a spin on things, would any of you northerners not consider the university of texas (or similar) because it is too hot?

texasgirlut, I honestly love warm weather even though I'm a Minnesotan, even Texas hot weather, so weather would definitely not play a factor in applying there. I just did not consider it because of other factors.

Footwear is also important. With either snow, ice, or slush in place most of the winter, boots are essential -- and functional boots (like UGGs) not fashion boots.

Another thing about shoes- you may not want to wear tennis shoes that have the mesh cause then you will have wet, cold feet for a while.

what do the boots look like?

Do a google on UGGs. They are from Australia, but they are the best, warmest boots I have ever had. They will keep the toes dry and toasty.

And, oh by the way, I am a Minnesotan that went to UT Austin. It was not too hot at all, but the humidity just about killed me in the summer! Minnesota can get hot and humid in the summer too though

oh those boots are really cute! i was picturing big, black, heavy ones

I am from North and I am actually applying to two schools in Texas. Both are more or less reach schools for me so I am not thinking about them too much just yet. If accepted though, weather won't be a factor influencing my decision. I will not be in Texas during the hot, humid summer months, I will be up north. Best of both worlds, eh ?

I'm a northerner, and I have no desire to be in Texas during the summer months...I'll take a Wisconsin winter and a beautiful Wisconsin summer over a Texas winter and a hot Texas summer...though I'd be in Texas for the winter months and it wouldn't affect my college choice.

So in conclusion

Texas winter>Wisconsin winter
Wisconsin summer>>Texas summer

(IMO)

And Texas + Wisconsin = California? hahaha I love Cali weather;

I live in Texas and it's ridiculously humid almost all year. :(

I does depend on where in Texas you are -- I was in Austin and the the weather was just fine -- and especially nice during the school year. I found Houston not very pleasant at all -- too much rain and too humid. But the BIG difference if you are going to school in the south/soutwest -- their bad weather is in the summer when maybe you won't be there. In Minnesota and other northern parts, the bad weather is the school year when you can't escape. Maybe California is the answer! Just kidding -- Minnesota is a wonderful place, despite the winter. And many people love the winter . . . just not me.
