Is there a big difference between a 33 and 34 on the act?

I have been told that once you score higher than 30 on the act, a one point increase is irrelevant. However, this doesn't seem to make sense to me. Shouldn't a 34 be seen as a better score than a 33? Can anyone please clarify this for me?

Just for reference, I scored a 33 on the act without studying at all and now I am considering studying to retake it in the fall.

Thanks!

Every point matters. Some school might have a cutoff for automatic scholarships that pays for 34, but not 33.

Sure there is a difference, and it can be huge for merit $$$.

There is a one point difference between a 33 and a 34.
Whether that is big or small is relative to where you are applying and the scholarships the school you go to has for ACT scores.

^No really? Lol. But yes it all depends. Some schools give automatic scholarships to applicants with a certain GPA, like UT84321 said. But you should retake anyways, considering you didn’t study and got a 33. With studying, who knows. Maybe you could get a 36.
