Is there a chance at all?

Well I am an International student(duh! I know you had already got that seeing my name) and I'm presently in my high school senior year. Well I aspire to study in a good (real good) college in US. But the thing is that I really doubt I might get into a good one. The problem is that I don't have a very strong academic background. :(
I recently took the SAT and secured 1980. I know that's an abysmal score for someone aiming for an MIT or a Harvard (Though I got an 800 in Math)
Plus I secured an 88% in my 10th grade exams.
I don't really have the 'feathers' on my hat that are actually needed to get in. :( I got a national rank of 512 in the International Maths Olympaid,544 in National Science Olympaid and a state rank of 40 in the International English Olympaid.
Well frankly I really need advice on what I should do. I am preparing for the SAT better than how I did the last time. But that element of doubt is getting stronger by the day. The thing is that because of the SAT, I am not being able to give adequate time to my school studies and the National Level competition exams. That's the main cause of concern. My EC's are just fine and I'd be able to manage good LOR's.
So I'd really like to ask you all :-
Should I risk my national level exams in my home country for the SAT?
Do I really stand a chance in the Ivy's or an MIT?

Any answers would be very helpful for me.
Thank You.

I think your stats would hold you back. Realize, though, that there are other schools that are good, but not top 40. I’ll just throw out the University of Minnesota- Twin Cities as I live in Minneapolis. It’s a really good school, and you’d have a good shot there.

Thankyou for this. :)

More replies are eagerly awaited.
