Hi! I am currently a sophomore at high school and I really want to go to Yale University. I’ve been searching a lot about Yale and how to get in. I would really like to ask about the chances of me getting in.
For my freshman year, I took world history 1 HN, Biology HN, Geometry HN, English 9 regular, Computer graphics 1, and French 2. I got As and Bs.
Currently I am taking AP world history, Chemistry HN, Algebra 2 HN, English 10 regular, Technical theater 1, and French 3. I have As and Bs in those classes as well.
Extracurricular activities: Best Buddies for 2 years right now (helping and hanging out with special ed kids) and Rowing team 2 years
Work: I am currently an intern for an organization called Americans for Prosperity.
Dude, you’re a sophomore… Enjoy life, do cool stuff, take harder classes (and ace them), ace the SAT, get a girlfriend. And to answer your question, yes everyone has a chance, and unless have some amazing stats, our guess is as good as anyone else’s coz it’s a crapshoot nowadays.
I honestly have no idea, but I’ll tell ya what I think kid.
ALSO CHECK THE STATS OF ACCEPTED STUDENTS IN THE IVY LEAGUE THREADS!!!
First of all, take as many advanced level courses as possible. Try to get as many A’s as possible.
You’re gonna need a lot more Extra Curriculars and need to have leadership positions in them.
If you are able to keep the job to a minimum, do it. Volunteer even more.
Write great essays, tell teachers/professors where you plan on applying NOW. Start working on all of your college admissions essays.
Do great on the ACT w/ Writing [it can take the place of the SAT & subject tests]
Also take the SAT and Subject Tests.
Whichever one you score higher on, send those scores in to your chosen institution.
FOR YALE–> they require the FAFSA, CSS Profile, Tax Returns, and you pick [ACT w/ Writing OR SAT &Subject tests] which scores you want to send. But you will have to send scores from each and every time you took the test.
Also, try to have a great interview.
They accepted me and I only had a 32 on the ACT.
KEEP TRYING, GET THE GPA as high as possible, applying many many places.
(I know applying as a Single Choice Early Action applicant can raise your chances because you will be dedicated to the school)
Hope that helped! \m/
