As much as I want to apply EA, it would be a lot of work to handle right now. I’m devoting all my time to studying for my ACT (Oct 27) and SAT Physics/Math 2 (Nov 2). I know MIT will accept those scores EA but I also want to put more time into and gather better data for my research supplemental and I know I can create a really nice art portfolio if I just had the time. I also feel like my research mentor’s rec would be a lot better considering I haven’t went to lab in the past month to focus on school, and by December I’d have spent a lot more time with her → better rec. I also had a B last year in IB Physics and Algebra 2 so they would likely defer me to see a midyear report. But say they’re reviewing my app again for RD and they notice I’m deferred, what might that tell them? Would it be a slight plus that I applied EA there instead of REA to an ivy? Would they look for improvements in my app considering I was (hypothetically) deferred? Honestly, the statistics show that a very low percentage of deferred applicants get in, I’m wondering why that’s the case.
P.S. If anyone wanted to look at my stats and give me feedback, I made a thread recently. I would really appreciate any kind of feedback!
