Is there any benefit in deleting a test date record?

Through writing, you can have a test date permanently deleted from your record. I have one test date (my first time) that I wouldn't send to any colleges. I am wondering if there is any benefit in having the record deleted.

Can anyone share any thoughts or experiences they've had with this?

Here is some info from ACT's FAQ: ACT FAQ : How do I delete a test date record?

anyone…?

I don’t think there is any benefit. If youre not happy with your score, then don’t send it to colleges. They only take the highest score. And you have to pay for deleting your record!

I’m interested at why it is even an option then… does anyone know?

If a school requires all scores, you can delete all the ones that you don’t want to send and just send all the rest, which is still following the specified rule. It’s basically ACT Inc.'s way of telling colleges to go screw themselves if they don’t respect score choice.

On the contrary, you don’t have to pay to delete scores.

Thanks so much! That really clarifies everything.
