I am an international students from Mainland China, where I think is quite difficult to apply to U.S. It's not convenient for us to take SAT. It's not advancing to get through the verbal parts.
I've got poor score on my verbal and writing.
CR 480
Maths 780
Writing 500

SAT SUBJECTS
Maths 2 : 760
Physics: 630
What kind of LAC or Us can I be admitted?
I don't think Bowdoin will be mine.
Could you guys gimme sum suggestions?
and my TOeFl is 617+5.0
My GPA are As or Bs
I need a lot aid, and I've got no chance to take a second SAT
And there are few students in China apply to LAC. Few of them know these terrific collegs. Could it be a chance to me for diversity? Could it be my advantage?

Thanx A Lot

Hey buddy, Im from China too.
I dont know much about this US college admission things since Im a applicant as well. But I think your chances on these top schools are pretty slim ( low SAT and TOFEL scores), unless you got a killer recommendation or something like that or you have won some major awards you forgot to mention. But still, there are a numner of Libreal Arts colleges that offer nice financial aids, you might want try those. Of course, apply to couple reach schools, you never know.

By the way, there are many chinese students apply to some top LACs each year (Williams etc.) Very competitive.

Ni hao! I'm from Singapore, hardly China, but we are all in Asia aren't we? Anyway, I agree with Astudent, your GPA/SATS/TOEFL all dont say too much about you. I guess if you are ECs are superb and can explain for your low scores then you might have a better shot.

except I live in NYC so it's a bit different. but please do not be discouraged, everyone has a chance. I would take the SAT I or the ACT over again w/ some extra prep. If not, take more SAT subject tests and ask them to consider those instead. the good thing is that internationals are important to Midd, so hopefully that'll help. good luck!

The problem is there are way too many Aisans in the top American colleges. We are ORM instead of URM. Clearly a lot of asians worked their butts off in the school. Those top colleges are not going to pity you simply because you are from China. They only pick limited number of Chinese each year and the pool is huge. They can find so many high achiever easily! Thats why I said he has a long long shot at those top colleges unless he got something special that he forgot to mention.

Thanq so much 4 all ur advice, guys. I'll try my best!

There are NOT lots of asians in middlebury.
Asians, especially, tend to go to big-name schools.
