As a sophomore in high school, I was wondering if there really would be any benefit in doing good on this test. I don't really feel like studying at all, but was wondering if there was any extremely convincing incentive that could change my mind.

Not really. The Sophomore PSAT is more or less a diagnostic to help you figure out where you need to improve.

Not now. After you get your results back, yes. You want to do well junior year.

Nope, not now.

It doesn’t hurt to start preparing for the real SAT earlier. The time will come sooner than you think.

I agree with this, but at the same time, it doesn’t hurt to start practicing early, so the SAT doesn’t take up significant time during your Junior or Senior year.

It’s not a bad idea to start studying for the SAT-type tests in your sophomore year, as you will presumably be a lot busier in your junior/senior years.
Your sophomore PSAT scores have no influence on college admissions or scholarships, but doing well will certainly help your preparation for your Junior PSAT which will matter for scholarships. So there’s definitely no harm in prepping now!
