Is there any reason to live now?

Just kidding.

I have a question about the Math II test.
Is it required for any/many schools besides science/engineering schools? Should I take it just in case even though I already have 2 sciences (and one language)?

Well, sunshineyday, I'll give you some advice:
I think you should take all the subject tests in the world and then you'll get into heaven. That's the only advice there is.

Someone correct this crazy person!

Crazy guy's right. Scoring 800s on all of them gets you a private chat with the J-man himself. AND an autograph.

2 crazy guys!

Bump. I need some sanity!

Take it. (10 char)

Yes, definitely take it. It's not hard at all, but you just have to worry about timing. For engineering, it's very important to have a good background in math, as I just talked to an admissions counselor at UC Berkeley and he recommended that you have a strong Math and Science background and score well on those SAT II's for them.

But my point is that I'm NOT going into engineering and I'm not that good at math on standardized tests (mid 60s on PSATs). And I need a score of 700 or above because I've already taken 3 SATs; I'm only planning to take one more. I don't want to bomb this one and then have to take another.

Is there any way it would be required BESIDES for engineering schools/majors?

Yes, some schools require it even if you're not going into engineering, I believe Stanford falls under this category. Math II is much more studiable than SATI Math, so I would give it a shot. Plus the curve is insanely generous. Buy a prep book and take it.

The schools will say on their websites if they want math-iic scores for those applying to non-engineering/non-math/non-science majors/schools.

it's a piece of cake. just do it.

I don't know if I should believe you crazy CCers who think everything is easy. But I'll consider taking it next year especially since it's required at certain places--I don't want to be disqualified immediately b/c of something I could have fixed.

Thanks everyone for answering.
