Is there any way to get more work study money?

I received a pretty generous financial aid package, but even after I appealed it and got more money, my work study didn’t change. I received $2,400 in work study from BC, and the most I got from other schools was $3,000. Is $3,000 the max you can receive? Is there any way I can ask the office to match the work study or to increase it by $600 or is that too petty to ask?

Also my guidance councilor said he actually earned more money that he was awarded for his work study because he talked to his bosses and took advantage of open hours. Is this doable for someone who is determined to lower their college debt by working?

Another question are Federal Direct Loan - Sub, and Direct Loan Sub Stafford the same thing?
