Okay, so, Class of 2009, our days as HYPSMC hopefuls are dwindling to a halt. We have but a mere three months until ED/EA applications are due, and five until RD. Test scores are solidifying, senior schedules have been released, and most club officers were elected at the end of last year. We're probably receiving the last paycheck from the employer we've spent every one of our high school summers working for. By now, we know who we're applying to and what kind of need- or merit-based aid we need to go there, and probably the likelihood of our acceptance.

I can't help but relate to the "lame duck" phenomenon of the U.S. presidency. Is there anything left for us to do other than pray for better scores on the Fall SATs and ACTs and write decent essays? I'd just rather still be actively pursuing acceptance than sitting and playing the waiting game after I've finished my applications.

I'm applying to a state college, but I still can't believe the day when I fill out the applications is almost here. Six more months and I'll know whether I'm in or not. I just wish summer was over, it's time to get started.

I think that using this time to write essays is probably going to help out the most at this point.

I'm also bulking up a few things that I already have done. Like now I'm joining a chamber music program at Peabody Conservatory Prep and I'm entering a really cool concerto competition....

I don't know, I too hate the feeling that I'm not doing anything.
