this may be a stupid question, but if there is, is there a list somewhere online?

Not a chance. Spring 2012 isn’t even out yet, let alone Summer 2012.

they don’t even have all the teachers assigned for fall 2011. no chance they have room and time reservations set up for summer 2012…

Well, one thing you can do is look at the archived schedules from Summer 2003-2011. If your class has been offered EVERY summer (or most summers) for the past 8 years then there is a good chance it will be offered again. But, with budget cuts and stuff, you can’t be absolutely sure.

[Online Schedule Of Classes Archive - Office Of The Registrar](http://registrar.berkeley.edu/Default.aspx?PageID=OSOCarchive.html)

Its not black and white. While there is no master list - it truly is not decided at all yet - there are departments that list the cadence of their courses and those will list the courses they intend to offer every summer (or alternating summers or a specific summer). You can plan for those and generally will make use of that working with your major advisor on your draft future schedule. For example, see [Undergraduate Courses](http://ib.berkeley.edu/student/courses/new_undergrad.php) or [Upper Division Courses](Upper Division MCB Courses | Molecular and Cell Biology) plus a few courses in catalog.berkeley.edu that list the frequency will include summer, e.g. F, SU for a course in fall and summer. Lastly, the very high demand classes are quite likely to be available in summer - extremely likely in fact. Things like Chem 3A, Math 1A, R&C courses, key courses for various majors that are a potential bottleneck.

You can email the department. For my department they posted the tentative schedule till spring 2012
