Is there anyone who is applying for transfer to Cooper Union Arch?

<p>Hi, I'm still in the middle of my second semester in a university so I couldn't pay huge attention to
admissions process which is really stupid... However I wonder if any of you know when I should submit my
recommendation letters. Cooper Union site says that I can submit optional recommendation letters until March, 1 2015.
However common application site says that I should submit at least 2 of them until January 12, 2015.
I've e-mailed admissions office but I'm afraid that I would not get answer soon due to holidays..
I hope that I could get answer to this ASAP!! Plz help me;((((</p>

<p>Vivien, </p>

<p>I have had excellent experience with this admission office. We submitted a recommendation letter via email and it was not a problem. I think they will answer you in time, but I would advise you not to worry if their website says they’ll accept until 3/1.</p>

<p>Good luck with your transfer.</p>

<p>Thank you so much!! Actually I just received a reply from the office and yes, they said that the letters were optional and were due March.
But do you know if there is difference between academic evaluator’s recommendation(the one that common application asks me to submit) and optional recommendation?
I forgot to ask this to the office and they are now on break;((
Anyways thank you so much for your response!! </p>

<p>Hi Vivien,</p>

<p>It may be different for transfer vs freshman applicants. I know for freshman it is typical to have a guidance counselor and at least one STEM teacher write a recommendation. Sometimes a second teacher recommendation or employer recommendation is added. I know that the admissions people will read everything you send in and the rule of thumb is to not send repetitive materials. </p>

<p>I would choose your recommendation based on whether it helps substantiate a key benefit you bring to the school… A competitive advantage. </p>

<p>Best Wishes</p>
