Other than write the essays and complete the applications, can a senior do anything anymore to boost her chances of acceptance?

Maybe get an internship. But really the main things are: keep up good grades, finish standardized testing, and continue dedicating yourself to ECs.

Keep up grades and EC. And apply for senior only scholarships.

some colleges take demonstrated interest into account. Find out if the schools you are considering do this. And of course the more time you spend writing essays, the better they are likely to be. Which means don’t start them the day before apps are due!
