Is there someone who got 2300+ (or 1500) on the SAT, had pretty good ecs and still got rejected by Cornell?
Is there someone who got 2300+,had nice ecs, 3.9 gpa (out of 5) and still got rejected from Cornell?
There’s a thread for ED as well, if you’re interested.
yes. i know a few people when i applied in hs who got rejeced with high sats and good ecs
Yes. My S had 4.0 and a 34 ACT. Was WL then rejected.
Sorry that is out of 4, not 5.
I’d imagine that most people with a 3.9 on a 5.0 scale would be rejected. There are already plenty of unhooked 3.9 on a 4.0 scale applicants that are rejected with 2250+ scores.
A close friend of mine was denied this admissions cycle with a 3.8 out of a 4.0 and a 2360. This might have been due to the fact that she’s Asian, though.
Many of my Asian friends had stellar GPA, SAT and ECs – but Cornell was the only one that consistently accepted all friends who I thought deserved to be in a top school. Maybe Cornell may accept the same type of percentage as other Ivy Leagues, but they seem more fair in doing so… (this is subjective).
I posted the same link to the Cornell results thread (that @whitespace posted above) back on June 2 in response to your question about your chances. Did you read through it and search threads from previous years? It’s very helpful.

There are THOUSANDS of people with scores and EC’s like you mentioned above that get rejected every year.
My friend had around a 2100 SAT, was part of several bands and teams, had a good GPA and was an overall great student but didn’t get in. I knew people who had around 1900s on their SATs with more concentrated ECs (one or two) and got in.
