so... in freshman apps, there are EA and ED, is there anything like this that increases applicants chances in transfer?

The sticky part of your question is "that increases applicants' chances in transfer."

Some schools do have a version of EA available. UChicago comes to mind immediately; you submit by March, they decide by mid-April (versus the regular submit by April, hear in mid-May). There is no binding nature to this, nor is there any special 'agreement,' nor do I think it conveys any preference. Of course, the earlier you apply anywhere the better, particularly if you find a school that has separate deadlines. If the first pool receives decisions by mid-April, that means there're already that many spaces gone...

thanks, a few of my friends are going to chicago, i might apply, but do you know if they offer fin.aid to transfer students?
and if anyone else knows anymore schools that offer special transfer deadlines, please post.
thanks

From all the forms they had me submit (and resubmit), they'd better award financial aid. ;) I have no idea how generous they are with it compared to freshman, however, nor will I ever likely know.

There are also a few schools which have mid-term transfer spots available (like spring or winter transfers). I'm sure there's a long list of schools with early transfer decisions. Mind telling why you're looking for them?

also a similar tactic for schools that dont do early transfer decisions would be to apply for the spring semester or for either the fall or spring semsester (based on available space) at schools. that way (for schools that allow either of these options at least) you at least will be less likely to be bumped out due simply to lack of room for when u apply, as spring semesters traditionally have less transfers apply, and when your flexible, obviously the school can just put u in wherever they have room.
