Is there such thing as post acceptance depression?

I accepted my acceptance to Pitzer College (one of the claremonts)

It was one of my higher choices but now i am hearing awful rumors about it and what not. Any insight or knowledge about the school (academics, campus life, etc) would be greatly appreciated.

Did i make a mistake ahhH!!!!!!!!

Not if you liked it and felt good on your visit. Pitzer is a good school. It is all about fit, one person's dream school is one another hates. Pitzer was pretty competitive this year congratulations! All of the Claremont schools are top notch. My S goes to Pomona and likes the students at Pitzer a lot, they share athletics so those 2 colleges tend to do more socially.

I heard the pitzer kids are looked down on becaues its the least selective of the claremonts....

Wow im so jealous of your son. Pomona was my top choice. it was sort of a joke that i applied tho. i was completely out of their range. but i think ill transfer there sophmore year or something

Yes, post acceptance depression exists. It's the same thing that often happens after other major, highly-anticipated events: college graduation, getting a doctorate, etc. After so much anticipation, there tends to be a letdown. One is still the same person, the world's colors aren't brighter, people don't throw confetti when you pass. :)

Pitzer students seem to love their school and it is a quality education. My D got turned down from Pomona as well Iqutie. Unfortunatly Pomona does not have a large number of transfers as they have one of the highest retention rates. I suspect that Pitzer will be increasing in the ratings as Pomona and CMC were at 20% acceptance this year and lots applied to Pitzer as well. My D got the feeling at Scripps that many really wanted to be at CMC and Pomona instead so didn't apply but I do not get that feeling at Pitzer. Folks seem to really want to be there. There is a lot of fun rivalry between the Claremont schools and they all love to stereotype each other. Probably Mudd gets the worst of it. I would not make my decision based on that but if you do not like some things about the school then check that out before deciding. Have you spent a night on campus. My S advised his sister to not make a choice on colleges without spending a night. She has taken his advice to heart and it truly shows her the behind the scenes life. Good luck. Where else are you considering?

I got admitted to UCSC, UCI, SDSU, and Pitzer.. i got rejected from a lot of places it was a huge let down. especially the UCSB rejection because my stats were pretty high. If i dont get in off the waitlist for Scripps then ill definitely go to pitzer because my other options arent very great, For me at least.

Same thing as buyer's remorse-you start second guessing your purchase. You'll get over it!

ah, the opponent process theory (we just learned about it and I didn't really believe it and used getting admitted to your top choice as an example of where it wouldn't apply, but I guess I was wrong)

PS - sorry if this is off topic
