"Yeah, business communications or speech communication. My brother in law is severely dyslexic, but is also pretty intelligent, so he majored in this to get any ole college degree. No math, very little writing, and lots of sitting around listening to the way people talk... I personally think that the major is a farce, but if you're really that lazy, or desperate, go for it..."

You can do the minimum and just get a degree without too much writing. But… if you want to have a good GPA or letters of rec. from instructors, you will do MUCH more than the minimum. Many Communications majors work as research assistants, and their tasks include a lot of writing. If you want faculty to notice you, you will write -a lot (and well). Comm is a competitive major (actually, several majors)-from restricted admissions to lots of competition for internships and jobs. Like most areas, the more effort you invest, the better you’ll do. If you are looking to do the minimum, UT is probably not the best school for you.
If you are just concerned about your writing ability, UT does offer lots of support through the Undergraduate Writing Center: [Home | Undergraduate Writing Center](http://www.uwc.utexas.edu/)
