I wanted to apply into a science major like Biology or Biochemistry, however I’ve only really connected with an English and a French teacher. Will having 2 LoRs from non STEM fields be okay for admissions or will it seem too odd?
This is very general btw.
Check the admissions requirements for the schools on your list. The colleges may have a preference and may want a math or science teacher to do one of the LORs
Will it usually be stated, or is there just an unspoken rule that your teachers writing your LoRs match your major you wanna be
If you apply for majors as popular as Biology or anything STEM, yes you should have a LOR from a STEM teacher (could be math or technology, not necessarily buology). You can then add your 2 other teachers.
That’s assuming we’re talkibg about very selective colleges that require 2 letters. If only one is required and/or the college admits 50+% applicants youre okay choosing your English or French teachers.
ty, just the response I was looking for! Big help
FWIW I would not send more than two teacher recommendations. Admission officers are swamped and typically do not want extra things to read.
One STEM.and one humanities LOR is ideal. Look at the requirements for each school you apply to.
