Im an incoming senior from NJ wondering if this is a decent college list. My stats:
4.6 Weighted GPA, 3.9 unweighted (not sure if the unweighted is right, my school doesnt calculate it!)
30C ACT (34E, 30R, 28S, 28M) Took 3 times and got the same composite each time
200+ hours volunteering and NHS, part time job, leadership position in SGA, Cross Country, and many other extracurriculars
Im applying as either Com or Business at all my schools, depending on which program I liked better at each!
University of Vermont (Business)
Fordham University (EA) (Com)
Boston University (Com)
Northeastern University (Com)
Villanova University (Com)
University of Pittsburgh (Business)
American University (Business)
Syracuse University (Business)
George Washington University (Business)
Schools Im considering adding:
Temple University
Delaware
Brandeis
These schools are all pretty much within your reach (your ACT is a little on the low side for Northeastern, but everything else on your app looks great and might make up for it). Looks like a great list, good luck!
@myos1634 my safety i would actually want to go to would be uvm. only like 3 people from my school have been denied, and they accept people with much lower stats. I might also apply to Drew University or Wagner College because I qualify for large scholarships/honors program there as a safety school for the money aspect. I have run the NPC for many of the schools, and most come out to just above the price I would pay for Rutgers – Rutgers says the would give me 0 in aid or merit and I would be paying close to 35k for my state school… which doesn’t seem reasonable for in-state residence, I would rather spend a little more or the same and go somewhere else The safety part Im struggling with so much! I don’t want to settle for somewhere I don’t love, and I’m nervous its gonna be my only option.
Also, what would you consider on this list to be matches and reaches? I felt like my reaches are BU and Northeastern, but there still reasonable reaches. I thought the rest were matches according to my school’s naviance page/the schools stats.
@Exwire I toured rutgers and hated it. the students were literally screaming at us “dont come here” and “rutgers sucks”… never experience that on any college tour before. Definitely don’t want to be a part of a school that portrays itself negatively to prospective students
@SonOfAbraham im not asking for financial advice or scholarship predictions. I just want to know if I would be able to just get in to these colleges based on my accomplishments in high school.
I have other schools I didnt include on this list that I am applying to that are safer when it comes to finances, but I feel comfortable that I would be admitted so I didnt include them
