is this a good college list?

I've just put together a list of colleges I want to apply to and I was wondering if it was OK. I'm not sure if I have enough safety schools or if I have too many colleges ( I just read that parents' thread about the boy who didn't get into any of the schools he applied to and it kind of scared me!)

Reach:
Harvard
Columbia
Duke
Georgetown
UPenn

Match:
NYU
USC
UCBerkeley
UCLA

Safety:
UCSD, UCSB, UCD, University of Washington

Btw, I have 4.0 GPA, 2270 SAT (w/800 in Writing that apparently NO colleges look at!), good extracurriculars (dance teacher & on a dance team, french tutor, pres. of club, & volunteer), and 4 school/state/national awards. I also think I'm going to be at least a national merit semifinalist (I got above 220).

Thanks for the help!

actually, i want to eliminate washington & nyu. so only 11 schools

I think you have a good list and have an excellent chance at your match schools (making them more like safeties) as long as your GPA is unweighted?? You might want to expand your search for a couple more match schools like a John Hopkins or Tufts. Also consider going early decision at one of your reach schools. And since the summer isn’t over hopefully your furthering your education in some way…college course, research? Good Luck.
