In general, 2016 was an incredibly rough year for me. I was diagnosed with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Panic Disorder, anxiety, and depression. To top it all off, I was also fighting awful stomach aches which later resulted in a ruptured appendix and almost a week in the hospital. These circumstances have shaped me into a stronger person, and I have learned how to face challenges by utilizing my strengths. In addition, my struggles have made me a stronger Christian, and I now have faith that God can help me through my struggles if I look up to him. I have also learned how supportive my family is. Due to my experiences, I feel that the following prompt from the common app would be suitable for me:
- The lessons we take from obstacles we encounter can be fundamental to later success. Recount a time when you faced a challenge, setback, or failure. How did it affect you, and what did you learn from the experience?
Would my experience sound to risky for a college to want to accept me? I personally view my past as my strength, not my weakness; however, how do you feel colleges would view this? Thanks in advance!
