Is this a good essay topic?

I decided to choose the "topic of your choice" because I felt that I could work that into a unique essay.
I am originally from India (born there, raised in America), and I want to write about how my Indian culture helped me progress as an individual and how it will continue to do so in the future. Is this kind of topic that colleges like?
I plan to write about certain points such as my country's values, possibly even vegetarianism, controlling parents, caring for the elderly, education, etc. just throwing ideas out there. i'm not completely sure what points i will write about yet.

I know that I could work this into a unique essay, but would it be what colleges look for?

and before anyone asks me, my username (jake) is not my real name. j, a, k, e are my initials haha. seems to be a common question i get on various sites :P

Colleges basically look for you. This could be a great essay. It could also be a boring and cliched essay. Everything depends on how you treat the subject. If the essay reflects you, and wants the reader feel like they know you personally, and then is well-done so that the reader wants to have you on the campus, then it’s a great essay.

My advice also: pretend like it’s only the essay that matters (even though that is not true, except partly at HYPSM). Otherwise, you’ll say to yourself “oh, the essay does not really matter, etc. etc.” and you will end up writing a crappy essay. Which would be bad.
