95.49 unweighted, 97.01 weighted. I expect the weighted to go up to 97.5 by the end of this school year! Is this good enough to be competitive for Brown University? I know there are many other factors but I would just like to know if this GPA is OK.
PS. my school’s weighting system is 3 points added to your final grade in AP and IB HL and 2 points added to Honors and IB SL.
There is absolutely positively no way for anyone here to answer this question. Because Brown looks at your GPA in context with your school - it’s grading system, other students’ GPAs from your school both this year and past years. We need the same knowledge base as the admissions office to answer your question.
Plus, Brown tends to look at the whole transcript – what classes you took, what grades you got in those classes – rather than focussing on your GPA.
Most schools have holistic admissions nowadays so it could go either way. They care more about the person than they do about the grades. Also, I would argue that of all the ivies, Brown puts the least emphasis on scores/transcript (even thought the difference is marginal at best).
