Is this a good plan?

Hi! This is my first post here. I have a lot of questions about high school and college that I'm hoping to find answers to. I'll be a freshman in high school in the fall, taking all honors classes except for Spanish. Does anyone have any tips on how to handle the workload?

I would also like to graduate as a junior by taking summer classes. Which classes would be best to take during the summer?

I have also started looking into colleges and universities. After graduation, I will be going to community college for 2 years to get my associate's degree and then going to university (right now I'm thinking about Illinois State) for my bachelor's degree. At the moment I am very interested in majoring in psychology and studying Women's and Gender Studies as my minor. Of course, I may change my mind during high school, but would that be a good minor to go with psychology?

Thank you!

As per advice for high school, take an AP class freshman year if possible.
If they offer honors Spanish, take it its not hard at all.
The freshman workload is really easy, the only thing that messes freshman up is laziness. EVERYTHING you do in highschool will come back to you so try your best, study and don’t fall behind. Ask for help if you need it from your teachers.

and for summer classes I’d say do what your interested in primarily and just do what you are required to graduate since you want to do so early.
Also, make sure your classes are well rounded so when you graduate you REALLY have an idea of what you want to do, and be well rounded for the sake of a good college.

Finally, don’t set your goal to a community college. Just do your best in school and you might get a full ride to a university

@Weeknd: What AP classes do you reccommend a freshman take?

Thank you so much for replying! My high school doesn’t offer an AP class for freshman year, and the only one for sophomores is AP European History, so I’m considering taking that. My high school doesn’t offer honors Spanish, which I don’t really understand but oh well. I’m taking Rosetta Stone in my current school, but its only once a week and to be honest, not much sinks in besides basic words. I don’t like the way it teaches.

And as for the community college, that’s what my mom said I have to do after high school since it’s so much cheaper. If I get a full ride to somewhere, I’ll definitely consider it, but for now I’m going to a community college just to get the basic classes out of the way.

@kimm1234: My high school doesn’t let freshman take any AP classes either.

@foodlover001: Yeah, I’m going to a public high school so maybe it’s more of a private high school thing. Gah, I wish we had more AP classes.

I go to a public school, and we offer AP Human Geography to freshman. But im pretty sure thats just some specific to where i live, I’m taking AP Euro and AP Psych next year

Thanks, Weeknd! I just looked at the brochure for my school again and it looks like they offer AP Comparative Government and Politics to sophomores too, so I’ll probably take both. Thank you so much for your help!
