Hi everyone, I’m a current student at a top 50 university but I’ve been wanting to transfer to my dream school, Penn. I’ve been planning out my Common App essay for Penn and it primarily surrounds how I love the PPE program because of its uniqueness and community. I have molded my current curriculum as a Philosophy and Politidal Science major and Economics minor to mirror that of the curriculum at Penn (however at my school it’s just a bunch of political science, philosophy, and economics courses, whereas at Penn it’s more interdisciplinary). I plan on writing about this in my essay. I guess my question is: is this a “good” reason? It’s certainly genuine and true, but will Penn admissions counselor think it’s obsessive or not w good reason to transfer (since I am technically learning about PPE, but it’s not as interdisciplinary)? Thank you!
No, admissions people won’t think it’s obsessive – and academic fit is very much a good reason to try for a transfer. Your familiarity with the PPE program – and your attempt to replicate it – shows how serious you are. That doesn’t mean you’ll get in – it’s hard, as you know – but good luck!
