I can't speak with total confidence on behalf of the Theater Dept. I took one class and I liked it quite a bit though, but from what I understand the Theater Dept is rather small at Pitt, and probably underdeveloped. The business school, which I am in, was definitely considered an up and coming school. It received a poor ranking in the businessweek rankings, but aside from that seems to be headed in the right direction. Certainly it's not an Ivy, but I'd say a top 20 state school. In all honesty though,if you have aspirations to work in entertainment, I would go to a major port for such activity (NY, LA, etc). You won't find a boatload of opportunities in Pittsburgh.

If theater is not your primary goal, you will find lots of smaller theater groups around pittsburgh. CMU down the road has an excellent reputation for theater (competitive admissions and big bucks though).

That is right...CMU has an excellent theater department...i totally forgot about that. I dunno, look around. Try USC (in LA), they have a good theater/film program.
