I just got my April SAT School Day results back. I scored a 1490 (790 CRW 700 M), up from a 1430 (760 CRW 670 M) in December. I’m glad that my score went up, especially because the April SAT felt way more difficult than the December one. I was just 10 points short of my goal score of 1500.
I’m wondering whether I should retake in August or move on to my SAT IIs (U.S. and Lit). In December I took the essay and got a 6/5/6, so I was planning to retake for a better essay score in August and take my SAT IIs in October. However, is it even worth the additional effort at this point? I’m going to be away at summer college from July 1-29 and I just interviewed for another away program for August 4-14, and I might be going to debate camp (not away, but still eight hours out of my day) from August 21-September 1, so will I even have time to study for and take the SAT on August 26? Do colleges even look at the essay? Should I just take my 1490 and go home?
For reference:
I have a 95 (3.8?) GPA from 9th and 10th grade; extra credit from APs at the end of this year could bring it up to a 96/97
I’m planning to apply to Columbia, UPenn, Yale and Princeton through Questbridge National College Match (I’m a College Prep Scholar)
Other private schools: GW, Georgetown (?), Syracuse, Rutgers, Allegheny, Howard
I live in NYC; I’m applying to Baruch, CCNY, John Jay and York through Macaulay Honors
I’ll apply to two SUNYs, but I’m not sure which ones
