I was diagnosed at the age of two with a moderate to severe hearing loss in both ears, I currently wear hearing aids to correct this loss, and otherwise i live a normal life. Would my hearing aids count as a hook?

no, as someone who also wears hearing aids, i can tell you to not rely on this…

but good to find someone else out there… actually i have a twin brother who also wears a hearing aid… crazy world isn’t it?

oh- people need to stop sounding desperate for a hook on this forum- it irritates me. sorta tells me you don’t believe you can get into a top school simply with your merits.

Can i get another response from someone who doesnt have such a bitter attitude??

Not really, in my opinion. I mean, it isn’t some sort of learning impediment, and seeing as you haven’t miraculously overcome it or something, it doesn’t seem like much of a hook. Sorry if I come off as rude.

I’d say that it sets you apart from a lot of people, but in neither a good nor bad way… Therefore not a hook.

Thanks, that’s better, you didnt come off as rude, I just want answers. Everyone is telling to use my disability to the my fullest advantage, and without it im a qualified applicant (33 ACT, four 5’s on APs, with five to be taken in May, Straight A’s for two years and counting, hundreds of community service hours, working four jobs). But without my hearing loss, im just the typical white jewish boy from Kansas.

Just fyi, I’m looking at Brown, MIT, Vandy, Illinois, Penn, WashU-Stl, Mizzou, VaTech

NervusBreakdown wasn’t being bitter, jut realistic.

No. It’s not a learning disability, nor does it seem like you’ve been stigmatized for it. It’s not much different than wearing glasses.
