Is this a likely letter?

You are so so lucky! Congrats!

wait so if I didn't get one, what does this mean? If this is a likely letter, don't only like 5% of applicants get one, or something like that.

Hey, I was admitted to NU ED for the class of 2011. I did not get such an e-mail however I know that a few kids who got in did in fact recieve an e-mail. The majority did not, so really don't sweat it! By the way, when do RD applicants recieve acceptance letters/e-mails?

I really hope that not getting a letter does not mean anything, but I don't think we'll be finding out anything for sure until the first week of april or so.
the suspense is terrible.

Has any international student received this letter? omg I am so worried

Relax - Not getting a likely doesn't mean anything. Likely letters are sent to a miniscule portion of applicants - the most interesting or top prospects. The other 95 - 97% of accepted applicants do not receive these letters.

can anyone say if what i got is definitely a likely letter?

here it is again-
To: David Shapiro

Dear xxxxx:

As a member of the Committee on Admission at Northwestern, I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed reading your application for admission. Best of luck as you continue through your senior year at xxxxxxxx High School!

Sincerely,
xxxxxxxxx

Senior Associate Director of Admission and Financial Aid
Northwestern University

Yes, it is.

David, It sounds to me like you wrote such a kick a$$ essay that xxxxxxx was compelled to let you knolw howmuch s/he enjoyed it.

Beyond that, it doesn't seem like anyone really knows if this is a likely letter.

Kudos for writing something so remarkable that it warranted a letter from this administrator! That, in and of itself, is a great sign. Does that mean you got in? Don't know, but will be interested to hear.

Good luck!

you are definately in
it would really suck if they rejected you after enjoying reading your application

congrats...!!

for the rest of you, you'll be getting your decisions in about a week from today!

I got a handwritten card that said basically the same thing...is that a likely letter?

I think every application is read by different administrative and faculty members or admission staff. Some of them take the time to write back to the applicants where as others don't bother. The students who got the letter are probably in but just because someone didn't get one doesn't mean that you are rejected or defferred. It just means that whoever reviewed your application is lazy and didn't bother to send an e-mail.

I was accepted ED this year and never received a letter; now I feel a sense of disappointment that my application was so mediocre that it wasn't worth the extra effort of a post card :-P

In any case for those of whom still waiting, I'm sure it's a good sign :-)

i didnt get one ....

bump for purposes of seeing last yrs timing..... Best wishes to everyone waiting. :)

thanks, CA Griffin!
so its around late march...

dude seeing this thread scared me 4 a sec! lol
