As a member of the Committee on Admission at Northwestern, I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed reading your application for admission. Best of luck as you continue through your senior year at XXXXXXX School!

Was it from teh dean or your regional admissions officer?
If admissions officer, do you mind saying what region? Maybe other people will share as well... perhaps there is a pattern?

OMG that is a great sign! You're in (i would assume.) I didn't get one b/c my sat scores are so incredibly low for NU (and other aspects as well) so yes. GOOD LUCK! I am happy for those of you who got these, and especially from here. Great place :P

I didn't get an e-mail and now I'm really worried too. Just great. However, I highly doubt this is an assurance of someone's acceptance... if it is, in fact, a "pre-acceptance" letter, then this is just plain tacky on the part of Northwestern.

I know of 2 students from last year. One received a likely letter and was admitted. Another did not receive a likely letter, but was admitted, because apparently, even though the admissions people did not enjoy reading his application, they grudgingly admitted him anyway. ;-)

So... to those of you who have not received a likely letter, you still have a chance! Good luck to all of you (and my son too)!

The only thing that's odd is that it's almost time for RD acceptances. So why send a likely letter so late in the cycle? In February, I can see it.
