Is this a risky topic to use?

Would writing about endemic nature of cheating in my country and how it [cheating] had affected me be a bad topic? I'm actually a very honest person and I'm usually the only one who does not cheat in my class.
I'm planning on writing how I met someone who made me believe that not cheating is possible despite everyone doing it and how I always loose competitiveness by deciding not to cheat.

I'd write about something else, but honesty, and the way I gave it up and redeemed it, is a big part of me.

the initial reaction to your topic will always be negative
but if you’re a REALLY strong writer, then you might pull it off
i personally wouldn’t go with it though

Thank You. Any more opinions?

It doesn’t sound like a very compelling topic to me. Universities expect their students to not be cheaters, and you writing about how you’re not a cheater is not likely to set you apart from the thousands of others who are presumably also not cheaters. Also, saying that you lose competitiveness by choosing not to cheat sounds suspiciously like whining or wanting to be congratulated for doing something that you’re supposed to do.

Were I you, I’d select another topic that’s more likely to set you apart as an applicant.

Thanks! I’d very much appreciate more thoughts on this topic!

I agree with juillet. Colleges assume you don’t cheat, and saying so yourself isn’t the best topic for your main essay. It would be different if your teacher wrote a recommendation that at one point commended your academic integrity.
Plus in your essay, you’d admit that at one point you actually cheated. Is there not some better topic you could pick?

Thanks! Btw, this is my supplement essay; my main essay is on something more cheerful.
More opinions are desperately needed!
