Hi everyone! I just created a cal grant student account to check the status of my cal grant award(s) and noticed that under of college of attendance the website listed UC Davis. So does this mean anything or not??

I don’t know, but my son’s says the same. Davis, alphabetically, is the first UC he applied to, as we listed them in in alphabetical order on the FAFSA, so it might just signify that move.

I believe if you are awarded a Cal Grant, the university listed first on the applicaton will receive the notification. The Cal Grant will move with you to whichever University you SIR. This is not an acceptance at the university. My friends son had his Cal Grant show up on the awards for UCSB and he was rejected.

My understanding is that the importance of order in the FAFSA application for California is that if you put a community college first before a UC, they will use the cost of the community college in calculating the amount of your Cal Grant, and you get less. So I would think this goes to the amount of the grant if you get in, and the school fees they are using to calculate that, not so much to admission chances.

When I was applying to UCD, I got the same thing. But, I was waitlisted and then rejected so I don’t think FAFSA and admissions decision really correlate. It’s just to calculate a financial package if you get accepted and (hopefully) decide to attend.

This does not mean absolutely anything as far as admission.

It has nothing to do with admission. CalGrant will take the first CA university fr the list.
