I got nominated by my school for a National Student Leadership Conference (NSLC) in D.C. Would this be an award I should have included in my application/resume?

year, i would think, being nominated by your school is an honor...

Isn't NSLC available to anyone? We get mailings directly from them. I did not think you had to be nominated. It is a great (and expensive) program, but not an award.

it's not an award, sorry, it's not like you get a certificate or trophy.
i think i got one of those, it said i was nominated by my country :S
didn't put it on the application even though i only have 3 awards

wanggggg89, chocoholic is right: this is not something you would list as an award. It is a worthwhile supplemental progam for students who attend, but it is not terribly selective and would fit in the "summer activities" section rather than the "award" section of an application. You will probably find it a worthwhile experience if you go, but don't go just because you think it will look good on your applications.

this is not really an award, bc everyone gets them

something like, Intel winner is (haha)

i went to nslc in DC (american university) in the summer of freshmen year. but no, it's definately not an award because there were some pretty messed up people there and i don't think it's any special honor to go there.

but does anyone know if it's worth putting down as an EC? it's pretty much a really expensive, less than 2-week long summer camp that you don't need to apply for or anything.

i wouldnt put it...but then again.. when i graduated (in 03'..i knowi, i know i'm old) one kid put senior fav. (best hair) on his app and he was accepted... i think it pushed him over the top...ahaha.. granted the school was csun

Any conference you've gone to is worth mentioning...just not as an award.

While we're on the subject are HOSA, FBLA awards (i.e. "Prepared Speaking") considered ACADEMIC awards?

i dunno what HOSA is, but FBLA "awards" notice the "awards" are definately awards because they're called...awards. haha. im not an expert but anything that you compete and win something for is an event.
