Is this bad? I messed up...

So on the common app, I put down the number of students in my class as 167. This morning I found out that it was actually 175. I know the common app isn't supposed to replace the official transcripts, but I can't change the number and I was wondering what was going to happen to my applications since I reported the class number wrong?

Self reporting rank incorrectly shouldn’t be a serious problem. If you can’t change it, is that because you’ve already submitted the application? If it is really bothering you, make a quick phone call or send an email to the schools where you applied and ask them if you should try to correct the error problem with a short supplemental letter. (If you call, you can be anonymous.)

I really don’t thatks a big deal. At a lot of schools the number is subject to change fairly often with people moving, changing schools, etc. Plus you aren’t off by much, didn’t intend to deceive, and the real number makes you look better not the other way around. It’s not like you said you were 3rd in your class when the real number is 30. They likely see this sort of thing a lot. But, as noted above, if it’s going to worry you, go ahead and give them a call.

don’t worry about it it’s a small difference
