is this COMPLETELY unheard of?

is it even possible for someone to major in premed and prelaw at the same time? or is this just unheard of? i think that if u take the classes to satisfy both, u could take both tests and possibly get admitted to both law and med school...not that anyone would want to go to both, im just curious if its possible. lol.

I dont think its completely unheard of. It seems that there are many ppl who plan on med school, dont get in, and go to law school. This is because law schools dont have any course requirements (unlike med school) you could take all the requirements for med school, major in whatever you like, and take both the MCATS and LSATs i suppose. But I don't understand why anyone would want to be both a doctor AND a lawyer. Unless they are only choosing a job for the money, the 2 careers are completely different..

no its not really becaus eof the money, i find both carrerrs along with engineering as intresting for me. the reason you work is to make money, so obviously that was a factor, but not that big of one. i want to do something intersting, and i think i could be interested in both, so i was just curious. thanks.

lol don't worry, I'm not accusing you of being money grubbing or anything :)
I was addressing more the incredible # of people who are rejected from med school and then decide to go straight to law school. But to answer your original question, no it's not unheard of. (Not that I'm an expert or that I've been through the process myself), but I've heard that it's actually quite common.

but prelaw typically concentrates on philosophy, so you'll need to get some of those in.

i thought prelaw was more history oriented? and is classes like english important for either one?

while not impossible, you're really cutting off any possible double major/minor/elective classes you're interested in by doing requirements for both grad schools. Go to whatever university you're interested in and check out some of the recommended classes for pre-law students to get a better idea.

I guess you could, there are MBA/MD programs, but what are you looking to do with a law degree--alot of lawyer later apply to medical school, but after failing in there chosen field. Are you actually gonna practice law take the bar, handle a caseload as a resident? physician with a client base and hosp. privileges? Do you love the law? Do you love medicine or are you just floundering hoping it will kind-of work it self out?

My Uncle went to four years of medical school, and then two years of law school...Afterwards, he became a medical lawyer in Los Angeles and does very well for himself. He loves his job and was in the same situation you are in...he majored in Chemical engineering, went to medical school, and then law school...

Considering that there are JD/MD programs out there, both formal and adhoc, obviously it must be true that you can be both prelaw and premed at the same time. Nor are they done only at no-name medschools or law schools. Some of the premier institutions in the world offer such programs, albeit in some cases only on an adhoc basis.
