Taking Chem, Bio, and Physics all in the same year. (not AP) Crazy? Yes or no and reasons why.

^ Well. I think three at a time is alot, but taking two is fine.I WANTED to take chem and physics, but no.. my school is {urgh} gay.
sorry. I hate the school I go to. They won't let me advance in anything. I think they want me to stay behind. grr

No not crazy. I've taken chem and physics in one year. and chem and bio the next year.

I took AP chem and AP bio and self studied BC Calc this year, and it was a piece of cake.

Bio is sooo easy.

that sounds fun

how about taking AP Chem, AP Bio ** and ** AP Physics all in the same year?

Depends partly on the type if schedule you have. If it's divided into semesters and you have two science classes one semester and one the other semester, that's manageable. If you have a modified block schedule like my school, with 4-period days, periods 1-3 being semester-long and period 4A and 4B alternating day-by-day all year long... and if you had one of the classes as a 4th period, and the others split up between the semesters.... that would be even more manageable. Or............ well, there's a ton of possibilities.

My point is, the type of schedule matters.

Also, how demanding are the teachers? I took chem and physics (non-AP) at the same time, same semester and everything, in 11th grade, and it was perfectly fine. One was a demanding class, the other was not.

Also, are you a science whiz? Taking three science classes at the same time would obviously not be a good idea for someone who struggles in science. I don't take it you do, though, since you're considering such a schedule. :)

if it's physics B, then don't worry too much over it; it's not real physics w/o calc

if your just taking introductory courses in all 3 it should be no problem, even if they're all honors they will be very basic, you'll be fine.

At my high school all students are required to take three sciences (pre-IB) in ninth grade, two or three (pre-IB) in tenth grade, and one or two (IB) in eleventh and twelfth grade.

not crazy at all

i took physics and bio together this year and I honestly had no trouble at all.

No. You can do it! Bio is really easy, and chem is pretty good too (if you are willing to study).

I personally wouldn't take chem and physics in the same year.

I wouldn't take physics if you haven't had something close to Calc, but maybe I'm wrong?

I don't think it would be that hard at all if you are interested in science. Physics is fairly easy if you are good with or at least aware of algebra/trig. Bio is just memorizing and understanding and its very managable. Chem will be the hardest but it will partly overlap with bio and physics.

It's fine. I took those 3 APs, self studied calc bc, APES, and (essentially) APUSH. It was easy.

Oh, and it's probably crazy, still.

Chem is okay. I heard Physics was really hard though. Good luck

well for one semester this year I did all three of them. IB higher level physics and biology, and chemistry college prep. quite tiring since I had all three subjects on the same day! one after another.
I had to stop taking chem for the 2nd semester because the IB diploma program required me taking IB theory of knowledge class for my 2nd semester and 1st semster of next year. I'll take chem again on my second semester of next year, and hopefully not all three classes are on the same day
