No, it's not.

Nope, but it sure is funny to look back at all your friends' pics when you're a senior

Well while kid is making her mind up, I am just thinking just wow how would she adjust among so many accomplished students. I am just kind of nervous too as we do not have any $$$$$ as compare to many other parents. But we will see.

Does Harvard provide anykind of a internal telephone directory for all undergards (or incoming freshman class) with photos and phone number? So kid can mingle with each other when they come first time.

The hardcopy "facebook" used to be somewhat useful, though never necessary. But I'd guess the web version makes it obsolete.

And note the .com url: this doesn't seem to be a "Harvard subscription" in that the money doesnt go to the University.

Edit: Lots of other people posted as I was thinking about this; the "looking back" idea is a fun one.

The printed yearbook only has pix and home town. I don't believe there is any internal directory with phone numbers - that's sort of an obsolete concept. Online, there is more available - and facebook.com fills any institutional gaps. No problem with kids mingling when they first coe, assuing that is what they want!!!

Actually, there is a directory that the school sends to every student (around October) with everyone's room phone number (as well as some student's cell numbers- they have an option of having it included). It's come in handy a few times.

I guess that's something I never heard about from my kid! I don't think the room phone numbers are of much use after frosh year, and questionable even then. My experience is that the nice little phone/answering machine I bought as an eager beaver parent was never hooked up.... Cell phones rule.

Haha... yeah, I've used it about twice, when I needed to call someone and couldn't find their cell phone number.

Buy the register as an investment. If one of your classmates is the next Bill Gates or Natalie Portman, you can sell it on eBay for a profit :-P

justforgetme :)

I like your sense of humor and thinking that is so forward looking. You are probably right it is an investment. This upcoming prefrsoh weekend would tell us if she is going to attend the Harvard. Thanks
