Is this how it's going to be for the rest of my life?

@emenya‌ Well you see I was diagnosed with this thing called selective mutism so it is very hard to make friends. You can learn what it is here:<a href=“Selective mutism - Wikipedia”>http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Selective_mutism</a>. I almost had a friend last year but she hasn’t talked to me all this year even though I sit close to her during lunch. People try to make friends with me but after a while they just give up. I guess it’s my fault but its just so hard. But I’ve learned from my mistakes and maybe next time someone tries to be friends with me I’ll try a little harder.

Since when teachers are obligated to give you less homework??? In college, there’s many professors that give you homework as if you only had that class.

@bvo112‌ They don’t have to give me less homework, I was just asking if there will ever come a time in my life where I won’t have as much work as I do now.

What classes are you taking right now?

Another parent chiming in…It gets much better! My d is also in an IB program and sophomore year was just Awful! Junior year, even though it was true IB and no longer preIB was much more relaxed, and the homework was not as intense. Part of that was a change in the classes and teachers, but part of it was her learning that she didn’t have to be perfect. So far senior year has also been much better.
In college you will likely have more options about which classes to take.

Acc. Pre Calc

PE
AP English Language
AP World History

I’ve actually learned how to better handle all my homework since I first made this thread. I was just very overwhelmed when I first made this thread but now it isn’t that bad. What I’m concerned about is that next year I’ll have all AP and IB classes and if I can’t even handle this how will I be able to do that? I know I don’t have the hardest schedule…I see some people who have these classes and they have extracurriculars and I wonder how they do it.

@dsi411 I’m one of those people with extracurriculars! I can’t compare my schedule to yours, but try and come up with some way to tackle everything you get in school as quickly as possible. Make studying, doing homework and anything else school-related as efficient as possible. And remember, everything you do now is a means to an end. All the hard work and what-not can, and will, only benefit you in the future. That said, it’s not worth going through HS stressing and/or struggling so much that your overall life and personality are forced to
completely change to account for school. It may be a full-time job, but if it is really too much, lightening your schedule up a bit wouldnt hurt :)
